ICABER Code of Professional Ethics

This Code outlines expectations for professional, respectful, and inclusive behavior at all ICABER conferences and events.

Professional Conduct Overview

The Canadian Technology Institute for Academic Research (CTIAR) organizes conferences, networking activities, and online discussions related to ICABER (collectively referred to as “conferences and events”).

These events aim to advance research, education, cybersecurity awareness, and responsible artificial intelligence practices while fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.

CTIAR welcomes participants who promote inclusion, professionalism, and respect for all attendees.

Expectations

Expected Standards of Behavior

CTIAR is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment at all ICABER conferences and events.

All participants are expected to interact courteously and professionally regardless of:

  • Age, race, or ethnicity
  • Gender identity or sexual orientation
  • Physical appearance or disability
  • Religious beliefs or political views
  • Academic rank or professional background

Any behavior that undermines these values is unacceptable.

Zero Tolerance

Prohibited Conduct

CTIAR does not tolerate abusive, racist, sexist, homophobic, intimidating, or discriminatory behavior toward:

  • Conference participants and presenters
  • Organizers and program committee members
  • Student volunteers and staff
  • Sponsors, partners, or local community members

Harassment of any kind is strictly prohibited, including but not limited to:

  • Verbal abuse, bullying, or offensive remarks
  • Aggressive or intimidating behavior
  • Disrupting presentations or official sessions
  • Unwelcome sexual attention or advances
  • Inappropriate physical contact
  • Stalking or deliberate intimidation (online or in person)
  • Displaying sexually explicit or racially insensitive material
  • Encouraging or condoning any prohibited behavior
